What is Głosik?
Głosik is a completely free Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app designed for children and people who have difficulty speaking. Users communicate by tapping picture tiles on customizable communication boards, and the app speaks the words aloud. Whether your child is autistic, has cerebral palsy, apraxia, Down syndrome, or any other condition that affects communication — Głosik gives them a voice.
The app was created from the heart — by a parent, for children like their own. No financial barriers. No compromises.
Features
Communication Boards
Build fully customizable boards with picture tiles. Each tile speaks when tapped. Add your own photos, choose colors, resize tiles, and reorder them freely.
Offline Voices (Piper TTS)
Download a natural-sounding Piper voice (~50–100 MB) and the app speaks completely offline — no internet needed. System TTS is also available as a zero-download option.
Quick Board
A fast scratchpad for spontaneous communication: build a sentence from tiles and speak it with one tap. History is preserved between sessions.
Speech Recognition
Speak into the microphone and the app matches what was said to the right tile — great for practicing communication. No audio is stored or transmitted.
Music Center
Play music for the child directly from your Google Drive folders. Large, simple buttons designed for small hands. A calming part of the daily routine.
Overstimulation Protection
An optional feature that briefly interrupts rapid repetitive tapping with a calming screen or a simple quiz. Helps children who get over-excited. Fully configurable.
Sync & Backup
Sync your boards across devices via Google Drive (optional, requires sign-in). Or create a local ZIP backup at any time — no account needed.
Google Drive Integration
The Głosik application uses the Google Drive API exclusively for two purposes:
- AAC Backup & Sync: Securely saving and loading user-created communication boards to their personal Google Drive storage.
- Music Center: Reading audio files from user-selected Google Drive folders to play them within the application.
Głosik only accesses files created by the application or explicitly selected by the user. No data from Google Drive is shared with third parties or used for advertising.
Dropbox Integration
The Głosik application offers optional Dropbox integration (via the Dropbox API v2 using an OAuth 2.0 + PKCE flow). Sign-in is performed only in the system browser and is initiated by the parent in Settings — never from the child UI or on app launch.
Głosik uses the App Folder permission (scoped access) — the application can only access its own folder (Aplikacje/Głosik/) and cannot see or modify any other files in the user's Dropbox account. Access tokens are stored in the device's secure storage and can be revoked at any time from Settings.
The Dropbox integration is used exclusively for two purposes:
- AAC Backup & Sync: Securely saving and loading user-created communication boards to the app folder on Dropbox.
- Music Center: Downloading audio files (mp3) and cover images from a user-selected Dropbox folder to play them within the application. Access is read-only — user files are never modified or deleted.
No data from Dropbox is shared with third parties or used for advertising. When the account is disconnected, tokens are immediately removed from the device and revoked on the Dropbox side.

Privacy
All board data is stored locally on the device. No personal data is collected or sold. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) are anonymous and contain no advertising identifiers.

Join the mailing group Required
The app is in closed beta. To get access, you must first join the Google Group. Click the link below and choose "Join group". You can do this from a computer or phone.
Download the app on your Android device
Complete this step on the Android tablet or phone signed in to the same Google account you used to join the group. Open the link below in Google Play — once your membership is approved, the app will be available to download. If you see an error, wait a moment and try again.
